Scholar's mate is delivered with the queen and bishop attacking the f7 square. The classic Scholar's mate is set up against Black, but it can also be set up against White on the f2 square.
The main idea behind Scholar's mate is that the f7 square, being defended only by the black king, is weak and therefore a good target for attack, which characterizes many chess openings.
Unlike Fool's mate, which occurs extremely rarely, Scholar's mate is quite common among beginners (hence the name).
