In Anderssen's Mate named after Adolf Anderssen a rook or queen is protected by a diagonally attacking piece such as a pawn or bishop and delivers checkmate to the opponent's king on the eighth rank. The mate is named after Adolf Anderssen a German chess master of the 19th century.
